Special Projects Intern (Winter 2011) -- FILLED
This internship will focus on a few audio and web-based projects from January through April, 2011.

These are the projects we want your help with:
-- Verite + 1 Audio Competition: A judged collection of radio documentaries, requiring coordination of entries—audio and info, supporting judges, and promotional efforts. (BigShed.org/verite)

-- Strange Beauty Film Festival: This Durham, NC festival is bravely taking on audio this year. Big Shed is curating a block of audio work at the festival, as well as putting together some pre-screening, sonic entertainment. (strangebeauty.org)

-- Big Shed Audio Documentary Podcast: Voices. Stories. Sounds. Since 2005, Big Shed has been pumping surprising audio documentary work into the podosphere. (BigShed.org/podcast)

What's involved:
Your responsibilities will include a combination of project support and creative production.  We want your help curating audio, organizing materials, communicating with a wide range of contributing producers, behind-the-scenes online stuff, and audio editing & production.  As part of your internship, we also want you to design and produce your own episode of the Big Shed Podcast.

This is a 4-month, part-time, unpaid position that will begin as soon as we can fill it. We expect a time commitment of 10hrs/wk (on average).

We’re looking for these skills: solid digital audio editing, comfort with web and multi-media, organizational and communication skills, a good ear for story-telling, and the invaluable ability to work independently and responsively.

Big Shed is tight little team, and we’re looking for folks who will fit right in—bringing your excitement, ideas, and the ability to pitch in when asked. And lest we seem too, too formal, we’re also looking for just a soupçon of that playful and twisted spirit we like to call “shedness”. We're an audio + media production shop with a commitment to encouraging and celebrating creativity in audio and related mediums. If you’re not familiar with our work, poke around at BigShed.org to get a better sense of who we are and what we do.

To apply, please send a letter of interest and resume to
bigshed@gmail.com (and if you have any questions, please send them to the same email address).

We are accepting applications through the evening of Tuesday, January 18.
